How should I structure source paper exam answers?

You should always look at the number of marks offered for each question to help indicate to you how many points you should include in your answer. For example, for a 3 / 4 mark source question it would be good to remember SMK; source (what is the source showing you?), message (what message is the source trying to get across?), and knowledge (using your own knowledge about the topic can you tell if the source is biased, or if it was influenced by events?). A 6 mark question will involve you making 3 or 4 points about the source and giving evidence and an explanation for each of your points, and a 12 mark question will require a short-essay structured answer with a short introduction and conclusion, as well as 3 short paragraphs with points and evidence FOR the statement, and 3 short paragraphs with points and evidence AGAINST the statement. It would be useful for us to go through a few past paper questions from your exam series in order to put this into practice.
