Write a short story which ends: 'she gave a small wave, turned and walked away

It was the 4th of March, eight years ago today, but in my mind not a day has passed. The world stopped turning on the 4th of March, 2009. The clocks stopped ticking, at 9.15pm. I wish I could say this is a love story; I saw her and nothing else mattered, blah blah, but in reality it is a story of a loss so profound my future didn't seem to matter anymore. It is a story of a young girl, aged 12 but holding on to the pigtails phase for all it was worth. And it is a story of a Mother, who wanted more than anything to stay, but who knew her little girl would have no life if she was there. I watch it replay, every 4th of March, I watch the men come to the front door of our little apartment, and I watch them take everything. I watch my mum cry while she begs them to leave at least my mattress. Then I am bundled onto a bus with nothing but my Mum's hand in mine. I watch as I am taken to a door I know well, the door to my Grandma's house. Then the world stops. Some would say this story ends here, but this is a story about FINDING what I have lost. Because then I watch as my Mum stands in the doorway, then she gives a small wave, turns and walks away.
