What are Christian attitudes towards environmental conservation?

The need to conserve the environment has never been more necessary than it is today. The book of Genesis is an essential text which has helped shape Christian attitudes towards environmental conservation. Genesis 1:28 says “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This passage not only gives human beings authority over the natural world but also insinuates an attitude of stewardship. The word "dominion" has often been misunderstood and incorrectly been used to justify mass exploitation of the world's resources. However I believe the biblical or Christian attitude embraces a lifestyle of care and consideration for the world rather than taking advantage of its finite assets. Chapter 2 of Genesis says" The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it." This substantiates the idea that Christians are to care and preserve the world but with liberty to use its resources wisely.
