What would be a good case study for illustrating the dangers of volcanic activity?

Mount St Helens erupted in 1980 (an easy date to remember) and this is a really useful case study as not only can you talk about the primary impact on humans (death, injury, loss of homes) and the environment (loss of habitat and wildlife) but you can also bring in secondary impacts, such as ash blocking rivers and leading to flooding.
