write ( 4 x 10^-3) x ( 9 x 10^14) in standard form

the first thing we need to do is rearrange the order of our question to ( 4 x 9 ) x (10^-3 x 10^14). now (4 x 9) = 36 (10^-3 x 10^14) = 10^(-3 + 14) = 10^11 so our answer is 36 x 10^11 however this is not in standard form. In standard from the first number has to be below 10. To do this we have to rewrite the number 36 in a different way. 36 = 3.6 x 10^1 so our final answer in standard form is 3.6 x 10^(11+1) = 3.6 x 10^12
