What is meant by the term 'marketing'?

Marketing refers to the process in which a business attempts to understand its customers and find ways to provide products or services to suit their demand. Marketing can be in the form of busines to business marketing or business to consumer marketing. The marketing function of a business is not indepedent but works closely alongside the other sections of a firm: HR, Finance and Operations.
