Solve the equation 3x^(2)-7x+3 giving your answer to three significant figures.

Since there is no further factorisation possible we use the quadratic formula x=[-b±√(b2-4ac)]/2a. From the equation in question we have  a=3, b=-7, c=3. Substituting into the quadratic formula x=[7±√((-7)2-4(33)]/23 =[7±√13]/6. Thus x=1.77 or x=0.566.
