What activities or credentials are universities looking for in my personal statement on a successful application?

It's important to think outside the box when writing a good personal statement and to mention accomplishments and experiences that are unique to you. For example, you have already declared your academic grades, certificates and predicted grades on your UCAS application, so there isn't much point in mentioning these again - but you could mention a relevant area of one of your subjects that you've particularly found interesting and talk about further research or wider reading you have done on this. It is important to mention extra-curricular activities to show that you are a well-rounded person, but in particular universities are looking for passion and dedication to your subject - mentioning books you've read is always a useful opportunity for you to show this. Do make sure you've actually read the books you have mentioned - if called to an interview you will undoubtedly be questioned on them (especially at Oxbridge). Also, when talking about things you've done as relevant experirience or books/infomation you've gathered - make sure you relate it back why these things make you a good candidate for your chosen course/university. For example, when mentioning , say, work-experience you've done in an elderly care home - elaborate, and tell the universities what you gained from this experience and why that's important.
