Why maths is so hard sometimes?

I have been struggling with maths when my teacher failed to teach me how to understand maths and only made me do the homework and tests. Maths is all about understanding the logic behind the calculations, therefore my main aim is to make you understand everything because only after that you can completely focus on doing homework and actually enjoy it as then you will get what you are doing.
