When solving inequalities the first step is to put the unknown, in this case x, on the same side of the inequality sign. Remember when you move values to the other side of a sign they change their charge as it were and become negative if positive and positive if they were negative so here, if we move 3x to the other side, we get 5x - 3x - 2 > 11. Now, we can put all the numbers on one side, changing the 'charge' again so we get 5x - 3x > 11 +2. This can now be simplified to 2x > 13. To now solve this equation to find x, we can divide x by 2 but whatever you do on one side of the sign, you must do to the other side as well so if we get 2x/2 > 13/2 and your final answer should therefore be x > 13/2 where 13/2 = 6.5 so x > 6.5.
