How do I approach a role play station in MMI interviews?

Role plays in MMI interviews are used to test verbal communication and non verbal communication ands scenarios can range from counselling to breaking bad news. The interviewers will be looking for you to display empathy and understanding as well as explaining things in a manner that the person you are talking to will understand.Introducing yourself to the person if the scenario is that you are talking to someone you have never met before is crucial. Non verbal communication such as nodding and sitting position will also contribute to how comfortable the person is with you and this is important. Therefore, building rapport by listening and communicating effectively is the objective.

What should I say if at interview they ask me which type of doctor I want to be (e.g. cardiologist, neurosurgeon)?

A patient refuses treatment for a life threatening condition, discuss the medical issues involved.

You're a medical student shadowing a GP, the doctor leaves the room and the diabetic patient the GP is assessing confides in you that he put five teaspoons of sugar in his tea every time, he specifically wants you to not tell the GP. What should you do?
