Describe the general structure of an atom.

Atoms are made up of three subatomic particles. These are protons, electrons and neutrons. Protons are POSitivly charged. Neutrons are NEUtral. Electrons are negative (electic shocks are bad). The nucleus (or centre) of an atom is made up of protons and neutrons, and electrons orbit the nucleus. You can roughly think of this as the nucleus being the sun in our solar system and planets as electrons. The combination of these subatomic particles can determin the element, relative atomic mass and charge of the atom/ion.

CuCl2 + 2NaOH --> Cu(OH)2 + 2NaCl. 100kg of CuCl2 reacts with excess Sodium Hydroxide. 50kg of Sodium Chloride is produced. Calculate the theoretical yield of Sodium Chloride, and hence the percentage yield of Iron in this reaction.

Explain the factors that increase the rate of a reaction.

0.0960g of Magnesium was reacted with 25cm^3 of HCL of 0.4mol/dm^3 concentration. Calculate the moles of each one and determine which one is in excess

Iron can be extracted from iron ore by reaction with carbon at very high temperature in a blast furnace. In this process Fe2O3 is reduced to Fe. Explain what is meant by the term reduction.
