Explain why diffusion is an important process in plants and animals.

Diffusion is the movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration down a concentration gradient. Lots of essential processes rely on this movement such as the diffusion of O2 into tissues enabling respiration to occur in animals and the diffusion of CO2 into plant chloroplasts to enable photosynthesis.
