How would you want the audience to respond to 'Character A' in (the prescribed play being studied)? Discuss how you would perform the role to achieve your aims.

Firstly, before your exam, create a creative overview of Character A after reading the play. This should include: physical appearance e.g. age, height, build, colouring and facial features. Learn this and use it in your answer as AO3. Also before your exam, identify all of Character A's key quotes and moments in the play by highlighting them in one specific colour e.g. pink. Choose 2 or 3 of these moments in different scenes to use in your exam. For each scene, outline what your desired ausience response to Character A is e.g. amusement, admiration, sympathy e.t.c. For AO2 marks, describe how you would perform the role in order to achieve this response in terms of vocal qualities (pace, pitch, tone, accent), delivery of lines (eye contact, spatial relationship with characters, physical contact), movement (gesture, gait, posture, demeanour, facial expression) and style (costume, accessories, props, and makeup).
