What are five arguments in favour of the death penalty?

The main arguements for the death penalty centre on the idea of justice (eye for an eye principle), closure for the victim's family, the punishment being the ultimate deterrent and an effective way of protecting society compared to other punishments such as prison. Other arguements can be made from dismantling those often used to fight the death penalty. For example it is argued the the innopcent people can be sentenced to death. An arguement can be made that advances in DNA allow much more certainity in criminal trials nowadays.

Secondly, use this question to highlight your grammar and vocabulary. This question lends itself to si clauses using the imperefect subjunctive e.g "If we had the death penalty society would be much safer." Also it is ideal to demonstrate vocabulary such as "La ley de Talion", "El cierre" and "elemento disuasorio".
