Bruce Tuckman (1965) suggested a four stage process by which teams will progress through in order to reach their most successful state. The four elements of this model consist of; forming, storming, norming and performing. Forming is the first stage and according to Tuckman involves reduced conflict, obedience to leaders demands and uncertainty about the vision of the group. The storming stage involves the testing of boundaries and potentially aggregated conflict between members. Following this, the norming stage identifies a united, collective group with specific delegated roles as a pose to just separate individuals. Finally, the performing stage is the desired goal where the team posses a shared vision and work successfully together.
