Which renewable energy methods are the best?

This depends on what "best" means, but generally this boils down to location.

As an example, consider geothermal energy. This is derived from heat sources inside the Earth. Some places, such as Iceland, are located in areas of higher volcanic activity and can derive lots of energy from it (26% of electricity and 87% of heating). However, Iceland may not be best placed for solar energy, which might do better in sunny lands such as Spain.

There are other factors to consider too, such as the effect on the local environment. Wave energy, for example, might be very efficient, but it has the potential to disrupt local wildlife.
