How do you translate: "Je suis allé en Bretagne pendant le mois d'aout" ?

The first word of the sentence is "je": that is a pronoun. I will ask the student to find out the equivalent in English and give him the answer if needed. "Je" in French means "I". "suis allé" is a conjugated verb. GCSE student are required to know passé composé (simple past). I will ask the student what tense this is and what verb it is. The answer is "went". I will then do the same thing with the remaining words: ask the student and help them find the right answer on their own.
The translated sentence is : "I went to Brittany during the month of August".
