This is a question my A Level English teacher would always ask, how do words shape meaning?
Although seemingly a very broad question, we must always look at how the words/ language fit in the extract, form the sentence, and build on the context of the passage or text. In this way, starting from singular words (the language), analysing their meaning, we can then work outwords, towards how the choice of words link to the structuring of the sentence and how these link. Further, we can then look at how the structuring of the sentences and the punctuation within them aid in shaping the form of the passage.
In this way, we can combine and cover all of the FSL's (form, structure, language), a significant part of the marks awarded throught the AO's, and display to the examiner your understanding and ability to deeply analyse the given text.
