Translate the following excerpt from an art textbook (2)

The real name of Caravaggio was Michelangelo Merisi. In the history of art, the greatest artists are known just by their name (literally, “nome di battesimo” translates as Christian name). The idea is that if one is so great, their name is enough: Giotto, Leonardo, Raffaello, etc., the surname is not needed to identify them. “basta soltanto il nome”, “basta” normally translates as enough and “soltanto” as just, so more correctly one should translate “just their name is enough”, although "just" can be omitted because the meaning is clear; also, “identificarli” is the contraction of “identificare loro”.
