2x + 4 > 16

Step 1- Get all the numbers on one side of the inequality sign and all the letters on the other side. Remember when a number is moved to the other side of an inequality, the sign infront changes from either positive to negative or negative to positive. 

2x > 16 -4

2x > 12

Step 2- Isolate the letter so that you are left with just the x. Dont forget what you do to one side of the equation must be done to the other side of the equation as well. In this example we divide both sides by 2.

x > 12/2

x > 6
