Explain the formation of fold mountains.

Fold mountains form at continental convergant plate bounderies. Here the two continental plates are being pushed towards one another by tectonic forces, powered by convection currents in the mantle. The plate is deformed and folded at the boundary creating high mountains and low valleys. An example of a fold mountain chain is the Himilayas, where the indo-Australian and Eurasian plates are converging.
