It is crucial to know and recognise the text type conventions - they are the basis in Paper 2. There is much guidance in the syllabus and online, however, when explained in person with examples it becomes much easier to write one by oneself. One of the types is the interview. When writing one, always remember that it must be interesting and quite naturally flowing, the register can be semi-formal or formal, depending on the news outlet you choose. I would not recommend writing a Q&A, because embedded ones score higher and give more space to demonstrate your writing skills. The title plays a role - must be relevant (and catchy for semi-formal). The introduction should be about the topic of the conversation, the interviewee. The conclusion depends on the content, but normally it is some final thoughts from the interviewer (yourself) and maybe a referral to further reading. Where appropriate, you could include the location and overall feel of the meeting. And last but not least - always think about the reader! If you are interviewing a teenage superstar about her new album, do not overcomplicate, adapt to the readers who are probably also teenage girls, while if you are interviewing a climate change scientist - have in mind that the readers are concerned about this issue and you could use some more specific vocabulary, maintaining a formal tone.
