What effect does the low angle camera shot have on a character?

A low angle camera shot is taken from below the subject. This causes the subject to appear powerful, dominant, and strong, whilst positioning the viewer as weak and helpless. Thanks to the harsh angle, the visiual effect caused is of "looking up" from the audience's perspective, and so it is also often used in point of view shots to convey that a character admires, or, bluntly, "looks up to" the subject of the shot.
