Solve 2x+3 + ((4x-1)/2) = 10

  1. Divide everything in the brackets by 2.      2x+3 + (2x -1/2) =10

  2. Collect like terms (collect 'x' terms and collect numbers).    2x + 2x + 3 -1/2 = 10

  3. Simplify like terms.     4x + 2 1/2 = 10

  4. Rearrange so 'x's are on one side of the equation and numbers on the other.    4x = 15/2

  5. Divide by 4 to get x.     x = 15/8
