There is a cube with a length 3x. The expression for the volume in cubic centimeters is equal to the expression for the surface area in square centimeters. Calculate the length of a side of the cube.

volume = SA (3x)= (3x)2 x 6 27x3 = 9x2 x 6 27x3 = 54x2 27x = 54 27x - 54 = 0 27(x - 2) = 0 x - 2 = 0 x = 2 The question asks for the length which we are told is 3x: length => 3x = 3 x 2 = 6cm.

Rearrange 4(2x + y) = 11 + 7y to make x the subject

how do you solve a linear equation where there are unknowns on each side e.g. 4(k + 7) = 12k + 4

Solve these equations simultaneously, y= 5x - 9and, x=2y

How would you solve the simultaneous equations 2x + y = 7 and 3x - y = 8
