How can I get an A in my end of year exam?

An English Literature exam should be looked at as an opportunity to display your skills and your knowledge of a specific text. An examiner is looking for insight and understanding of key themes, characters and devices, along with unique and justified interpretation. You should look to make 3 key points in your essay, which I would recommend structuring like a sandwich - In the introduction, set out key information and a direct answer to the question (agree/disagree), followed by one point to justify your answer, one to challenge, one to justify, and then a final summary and conclusion on the matter. Read widely, consider alternative opinions, show clear knowledge through quotes from the texts, and acknowledging historical context/stylistic influence can really make your work stand out.
