How to work out a fraction of an amount?

The key rule is to divide the amount by the denominator and multiply by the nominator. E.g:

3/5 of 45£

divide by the denominator 45/5=9

multiply by the nominator  9*3=27

There is a cube with a length 3x. The expression for the volume in cubic centimeters is equal to the expression for the surface area in square centimeters. Calculate the length of a side of the cube.

In the isosceles triangle ABC, AB=AC and angle B=(3x +32)degrees and angle C=(87-2X)degrees

Solve simultaneously: 2x + y = 18 and x - y = 6

Solve this set of linear equation to find x and y: 1. 8x + 2y =48 2. 7x +3y =47
