Create a generalised paragraph plan for a personal statement.

The content and order of the paragraphs of the personal statement is up to the applicant.  However, the general content of the paragraphs and the order of these is usually as follows.  The introduction should capture the interest of the admissions tutor by showing that you are interested in their subject.  The paragraph should also introduce the sources of your interest.  The following paragraph would usually detail how your previous studies relate to your course.  This paragraph would usually discuss books you have read, extended projects and pieces of course work that you enjoyed doing. The next paragraph would talk about relevant work experience (if applicable).  The applicant should then talk about how they follow up their interest in their subject through their hobbies.  Hobbies that do not relate to their subject could also be discussed in terms of the skills that they learn through them.
