Explain why parents, who do not have cystic fibrosis, can have a child with cystic fibrosis.

Because cytic fibrosis is a recessive genetic disease, both parents can be carriers therefore having Ff genotypes. If a punnett square is drawn, it can be seen that offspring with the genotypes FF, Ff and ff can be produced, meaning that an affected child can be born.
