What is photosynthesis and how does it work?

Photosynthesis is a biochemical process that plants use to convert Carbon dioxide (i.e. breathed out by animals) into Oxygen.

The word equation is: carbon dioxide + water -> glucose + oxygen.

The chemical equation is 6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6O2.
