What is differentiation used for?

Differentiation is used to find the gradient of a line, or curve. It can also be used to find the co-ordinates of stationary points, whether these be minimum, maximum or points of inflection. The second derivitive can be used to identify if these points are minimum or maximum.

How do I know I can multiply two matrices and if so, how do I do it?


A particle is moving in a straight line from A to B with constant acceleration 4m/s^2. The velocity of the particle at A is 3m/s in the direction AB. The velocity of the particle at B is 18m/s in the same direction/ Find the distance from A to B.


A curve is defined by the equation y = (x + 3)(x – 4). Find the coordinates of the turning point of the curve.


Differentiate y = x*cos(2x)
