The student should refer to the various dimensions of idealism, and how they are portrayed through the characters, the setting and the narration. Using appropriate language, the student should mention how the historical and social context of the 1920s contribute to the theme, and influence the mindsets of the characters. e.g the superficial lifestyle of 20s society influences Myrtle's idea of what her life should look like - the student should go further by giving appropriate examples. For higher grades, the student should attempt to link the different aspects of idealism that is portrayed throughout the novel, and ensure that explanations are also provided. Ultimately, the answer should read and flow well, and impress the reader with flair of both language and understanding.
