Expand the following: (4x+7)(7x-2)

Using the FOIL (Firsts, Outsides, Insides, Lasts) mnemonic, you can expand these two brackets. F: 4x x 7x = 28x^2 O: 4x x -2 = -8x I: 7 x 7x = 49x L: 7 x -2 = -14 Therefore the expansion as a whole is: 28x^2 - 8x + 49x - 14 This expression can be simplified further by collecting the like terms ie. the "x" terms, giving: Answer = 28x^2 + 41x - 14
