Solve the following simultaneous equation for x and y: 2x + 5y = 8, 4x + y = 7

Equation A: 2x + 5y = 8

Equation B: 4x + y = 7

2A: 4x + 10y = 16

2A - B: 9y = 9, Therefore y = 1

Sub y back into equation A to find x:  2x + 5 = 8,  2x = 3,  x = 1.5
