How are the themes of Love and Tragedy linked in Shakespeare's play ''Romeo and Juliet?''

L- Language

Shakespeare introduces the theme of tragic love through the characters of Romeo and Juliet. He referes to the couple as a pair of ''star-cross'd lovers'' which exercises their love was almost predestined. It is ironic that Shakespeare uses a noun when he refers to the pair as ''stars'' as stars are often associated with light but as readers, we know Romeo and Juliet would perish towards the end. Perhaps Shakespeare does this to portray a message that no love is eternal.
