Explain the difference between a receptor and an effector using examples.

Receptors  have the abilty to detect a stimuli which include changes in surroundings such as pressure on the skin. This stimuli is then converted into an impulse.  Examples of receptors include the retina in the eye. An effector converts an impulse into an action allowing a response to occur. Examples of effectors include muscle and glands such as the adrenal gland.
