What is the difference between genotype and phenotype?

Genotype is the alleles that you have for a specific gene

Phenotype is the physical expression of the genotype (think phenotype, physical expression to remember which is which!)

e.g. 

Your eye colour genotype may have one allele for brown eyes and one for blue eyes, the phenotype would be what you can see- so that the person has brown eyes
