How do you write a good essay?

A good essay needs to make a strong argument with a minimum of three points, and needs to strike the balance between being concise and also having enough detail! Your introduction needs to contain a simple answer to the question, outlining all the points you will be making, and you also need to define any technical terms in the question. The main body of the essay needs to be structured in PEE format - point, evidence, explanation. The point you make (topic sentence) needs to be a general summary of the paragraph, and needs to refer to the question. Your evidence should usually be attached to a particular scholar, and make sure you explain any technical terms. For philosophy and ethics, you need to make sure you always critique every point you mention, and ask yourself how someone might respond to your point. Your conclusion should summarise all the points you've mentioned, again address the question, and then maybe make another interesting, general point about the topic or question. No problem!
