Fumi? (Do you smoke?)

A common question which students encounter in both written and oral exams. Their answer should generally aim to not only answer the simple yes or no question but to also further elaborate on a specific stance on the matter using justifications and more sophisticated linguistic structures.

An example answer could be:

Personalmente, non fumo ma conosco molti amici che hanno scelto di farlo. Non capisco perché si fuma perché causa i problemi con lo svillupo dei pulmoni.

This answer satisfies all of these criteria.
