Can you help me solve the equation x^2+3x-5

We can see right off the bat that this is a quadratic equation. As always with quadratics, it is easiest to see if it factorises first. To factorise, you need to find two numbers that multiply together to create the last number and sum to give the coefficient of x. However, in this circumstance, no real numbers fit these requirements, therefore, we need to find another way to solve the equation. This is where the quadratic formula comes in. Using the quadratic formula and inputing the numbers accordingly, where a = 1, b = 3, and c = -5, we can solve for x. Therefore x = (-3(+/-)(sqrt(29))/2.
