Il y a un centre commercial dans ma ville - There is a shopping centre in my town Le samedi j'aime faire les magasins avec ma copine - On saturdays (recurrent), I like to do the shops/go shopping with my friend Recemment, j'ai achete un nouveau portable - I recently bought a new phone C'etait trop cher - It was too expensive Je ne sais pas - I don't know (go over the negation in french - ne... pas) si on va sortir la semaine prochaine - if we are going to go out next week HOW TO USE NEGATIVES - It is important to use the full negatives structure when writing in French. Ne...pas is used on either side of the verb to say 'not' - je ne veux pas te voir = I do not want to see you There are other variants of ne...pas: Ne...jamais = never ; Ne...plus = not anymore ; ne...rien = nothing/not anything ; ne...personne = nobody/not anybody/no one Ne...que = only -> Je ne prends que du lait = I only take milk When we put 'ne' in front of a vowel: i.e. Je n'ai plus faim = I am not hungry anymore [replace the e with an apostrophe] OR in front of an h: Il n'habite plus la (he doesn't live here anymore) When speaking, most french people actually 'forget' to say the 'ne' part of the negative: i.e. 'Je n'ai plus faim' would become 'J'ai plus faim'. This is acceptable in conversation, but would not be acceptable in written French.
