How can I test to see if a sample a metal contains potassium?

The metals of group 1 (like potassium) can be identified by a flame test: A sample of the metal is placed in a bunsen flame, and the colour of the flame tells the metal.

Potassium placed in the flame of a bunsen burner gives a lilac flame.
