What are the key features of representative democracy

The first key feature of representative democracy is frequent elections. This is when citizens vote in these elections for politicians to represent their constituency in parliament. Another key feauture that under the Fixed Term Parliament act 2011, elections are held every 5 years. Representative democracy opposes to direct democracy in which they are directly involved with the running of their state as supposed to having representatives.
