A circular table top has diameter 140 cm. Calculate the area of the table top in cm² , giving your answer as a multiple of π.

Area of a circle = π r²

r = (1/2) d = (1/2) * 140 = 70

area         = π * (70)²

                = 4900 π cm²

A curve has the equation y = 4x^2 + 5x + 3 and a line has the equation y = x + 2. Show that the line and the curve have one point of intersection.

Simplify fully {x^2 -3x -4}/{x^2 + 4x +3}

The area of a rectangle is 8cm^2. It has a length of (3x+1)cm and a width of (2x+5)cm. Work out the value of x.

Solve the two simultaneous equations y+5x=30 and 6y=-x+64
