What is the difference between velocity and speed?

Speed is a scalar quantity, meaning it gives us information for only the magnitude, how large a quantity is. Velocity is a vector quantiy, and this means it gives us both magnitude and direction. Both speed and velocity show how fast something is moving, however velocity also shows us the direction in which it is moving!
