Why do I sometimes see the しき attached to adjectives?

しき is an adjective ending that appears occasionally in modern Japanese texts and literature. However this is a remnant of classical (medieval) Japanese language. This ending carries the same meaning as any normal い-adjective , and you do not need learn how to reproduce it, however it is important to be able to recognise it. Example: 美しき instead of 美しい.
