In French there are 2 future tenses that you need to know about: the future tense and the immediate future tense. The future tense is formed by adding the present tense of "avoir" (Except for Nous and Vous forms) to the infinitve of -er or -ir verbs. In the case of -re verbs remove the -e and then add the ending. Endings are as follows: ai/as/a/ons/ez/ont. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule which we can discuss later. This is the most used tense when talking about future, with phrases such as 'soon', 'next month', 'tomorrow' etc. The immediate future tense is refers to what you're going to do next. This is formed by using the present tense of the verb "aller" + infintive verb, eg I am going to watch TV- je vais regarder la télévision. To help distinguish between the two it is often useful to think of the first as the "will" future and the second as the "going to" future. Is this clearer for you?
