Complementi diretti e indiretti, what are they and what's the difference.

Complementi are linguistic expression that make up the sentece, in addition to the subject and the verb. They are defined according to what they mean and give information about (for example, the place, the time, the reason, the way something is done etc.),  rather than to their syntactic function. It is called "complemento diretto" or also "complemento oggetto", when it refers to the verb directly, while it is "indiretto" when it needs another grammatical element, such as prepositions, to be linked to the verb.

____

I complementi sono espressioni linguistiche che, in aggiunta al soggetto e al predicato, contribuiscono a comporre la frase. Si definisco per il concetto che racchiudono (di luogo, tempo, causa, fine, mezzo ecc.) e non per la funzione sintattica che svolgono. Si dicono diretti quando si legano direttamente al verbo, (complemento oggetto), mentre sono indiretti quando si servono di un ulteriore elemento grammaticale, quali per esempio preposizioni, per legarsi al verbo.
