Confidence in languages is underestimated and it depends on the attitude and personality of the student. The majority of students associate confidence with fluency - however, the easiest way to achieve confidence in another language is by expanding your vocabulary and practising aloud in small doses but on a regular basis. This doesn't mean you have to be fluent right from the start but it can be a gradual process which ends in the same result. Students should also record themselves speaking so that they recognise their own voice as well as their own problems with pronunciation. Languages are like puzzles - you have to tackle them piece by piece but with a positive attitude. Learning a language is enjoyable and you should strive to be confident in yourself in order to come across as confident in your language.
